Utrecht – A Few Hotspots

Van alle steden in Nederland die ik bezocht heb is Utrecht denk ik wel mijn lievelings. Na mijn eigen stadje Den Bosch is dit ook wel de stad waar ik het meeste kom. Het ligt op de weg naar mijn ouders en een hoop van mijn vrienden wonen er ook of in de buurt. Zo ging ik vorige week samen met een vriend naar de bioscoop (Star Wars!) en gingen we daarvoor nog even de stad in. Het was de week zonder internet en ik was helemaal in de fotografiemodus en besloot dus ook om mijn camera mee te nemen voor een paar kiekjes. Omdat het grootste gedeelte van de dag bestond uit film kijken hebben we maar een paar dingen bezocht. Maar wel weer een paar nieuwe plekjes om toe te voegen aan mijn favorietenlijst in Utrecht! Voor jullie zijn deze plekken ongetwijfeld al bekend, vandaar dat ik er maar even in het Engels een beschrijving bij heb gedaan. Misschien dat het nog een beetje interessant is voor mijn buitenlandse lezers…

Misschien maak ik in het nieuwe jaar nog wel een volwaardige city guide met mijn favoriete plekjes in Utrecht. Who knows? Voor nu heb ik een paar foto’s. Een sfeerimpressie zullen we maar zeggen. De film was trouwens gaaf, maar begon wel errug langzaam. Maar naar mijn bescheiden mening beter than The Force Awakens! (Wist je dat ik dus vanaf mijn 9e al fan ben van Star Wars en toen een hele zware crush had op Luke Skywalker? Geen Han Solo voor mij! En laten we Carrie Fisher nooit vergeten! <3) Verder ben ik immens aan het genieten van al jullie jaaroverzichtjes en wil ik eigenlijk ook wel graag een persoonlijke maken. Ik twijfel nog een beetje of ik die op deze blog plaats of dat ik misschien ooit maar eens een andere blog moet gaan nemen voor mijn persoonlijke dingen. Wel ben ik in ieder geval al bezig met een post over doelen in 2017, dus ben je daar alvast voor gewaarschuwd ;) Wat zijn jouw favoriete plekken in Utrecht?
English: Utrecht, my favourite city in the Netherlands. I can’t quite tell why it’s my favourite place, I guess I just feel it. Maybe it’s because it’s so central, many of my friends live there, I travel through the city while I’m on my way too family or maybe because it feels like a miniature version of Amsterdam. Miniature in the sense that it’s still pretty, but hasn’t that huge amount of tourists and is just a whole more friendly than Amsterdam. But it’s still a hip and happening, vibrant little city. I just love it so much!

STACH Food
Choorstraat 42

There are three different locations of STACH in Utrecht, this one is the most central one. It’s super small but it has lots of good, delicious foods like cookies, craft beers, carrot cake (like I had!) and much more. Their chocolate bars are too pretty to even eat! Everything is available for takeaway but if you have the time I definitely recommend to go upstairs and eat your cake/cookie/whatever there. It has a great view of the Dom and the Oudegracht. Great for people watching ;)

Het Kaufhaus (Vintage)
Achter Clarenburg 32

I didn’t really intend to make a tiny article about these so called ‘hotspots’ so I didn’t really take any proper pictures of this place. However, it’s as simple as this: Het Kaufhaus is a vintage shop with vintage clothing, which in my opinion mostly means very expensive ugly sweaters. But they definitely have some cool stuff! It’s right outside the (huuuuuuge) train station so easy to reach and therefor definitely worth checking out.

SLA
Voorstraat 52

This little place is definitely a bit hipster and minimal looking, with plants!, so basically totally my cup of tea. Sla means lettuce, so you just might guess what this place is all about: salads! It’s pretty affordable and the salads are all filling and you get quite a huge plate. I’m the last person on earth to just eat a salad for dinner, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Definitely a recommendation.

Also,if you’re looking for a place to have a drink afterwards make sure to go to my favourite cafe De Voortuin in the same street.
